Asbestos related illness claims

The dangerous nature of asbestos has been known for many decades.

Certainly, by the mid-fifties, the effects of asbestos on health was well known, both by those  companies who were manufacturing it and those using it.

There are many different conditions and illnesses that a person may develop following exposure to asbestos. Some of the most common conditions include Mesothelioma, Asbestosis, Lung Cancer and Pleural Plaques.

In most circumstances, asbestos related illnesses can be diagnosed by your doctor following x rays, scans or lung function tests. Asbestos has what is called a long incubation period. This means that it may be many years after your exposure that you are diagnosed with an illness. This does not prevent you from making a claim.

If you have been diagnosed with an asbestos related condition, apart from Pleural Plaques, and it can be proved that you were exposed to asbestos, due to the fault of someone else, then you may be able to bring a claim for compensation.

It is often still possible to bring a claim for compensation against a company that no longer exists.

Because of legal time limits  for bringing claims for compensation, it is important that you seek legal advice promptly.
